Interdisciplinary Science Meet Ups (Fall 2016)
Enjoy food and conversation with students, alumni, and faculty in the Interdisciplinary Science Program. Students can learn about course offerings, public programming, city events, study abroad, and students’ research and internship experiences. At each Meet Up a student minoring or majoring in the Interdisciplinary Science Program will present their summer research or internship experience and/or summer academic program. Interdisciplinary Science Majors and Minors Meet Up Session
We invite students interested in pursuing the Major or Minor in Interdisciplinary Science to review our advising materials, the personal statement, emerging student organizations, job opportunities, and Carlie Leary a current student and minor will be presenting her summer research project (REU) on biofuel and energy conservation using agricultural research funded by the USDA program, and discuss her experience in Cooper Union chemistry and biology courses. F

Interdisciplinary Science Info Session
We invite all University Students interested in registering for courses focused on health and the environment, mathematics, and big data to learn about current and future course offerings, study abroad, public programming, and scholarships for research and summer internship experiences. Duncan Figurski, Interdisciplinary Science Major and Tishman Environmental Merit Alaska Scholar, will present his summer internship project on conservation and the environment and discuss his work as a Science Fellow.

Science, Health, Environment, & Big Data
We invite all students to learn how to find, fund, & secure a research or summer internship experience in public health, environmental advocacy, sustainable practices, community based research, big data analysis, clinical trials, & bench science. Emily Defilippis, Interdisciplinary Science Minor, will share her summer academic program in microbiology and explain how this experience will make her more competitive for summer research experiences. We will also discuss the potential for a short course offered in spring designed to provide students with necessary molecular biology skills for research experiences.
