Extranumerary Embryos: Adoption, Donation, Disposal, and Research

With the growing interest  in using Assisted Reproductive Technologies, many fertility centers are grappling with the excess embryos created through IVF.  Some who have participated in IVF and had children decide to donate their embryos to those in need or kin. Others perform a disposal ceremony where the excess embryos are transferred to the mother’s womb, at a  time in her menstrual cycle when she can not conceive.
